Week 16 – The Law Of Growth

Whatever we think about grows. What we forget atrophies.

This week has been very interesting as we have been noticing ‘Kindness’ as a group and feeling the law of growth in this area together. We have been sharing our experiences with each other in the forum and as a result the impact on each of us has been exponential. The power of a mastermind group was written about by Napoleon Hill and feeling it first hand is a powerful experience.

Noticing kindness in others has been revealing as it is not only their kindness to me but also to each other that has been apparent. A lot of it would have bypassed my consciousness if it was not for this weeks exercise. I am surrounded by kind people doing kind things and that is a great thing. Kind acts towards me are naturally good for me and I have been sure to be gracious. I believe that I have noticed many more than I would have otherwise and the effect on my subconscious mind can only be for the better as a result and we all know what a healthy happy subconscious mind can achieve.

My acts of kindness have been a little harder as we were asked as a group to do two random acts of kindness each day. By a random act we mean doing something without being caught. I have tidied up in shops, given to charity boxes and slowed my car in traffic to create a gap ahead for other drivers that I have seen. These seem small but it has revealed that I have room for improvement in this. I believe that I am a kind person but to give this law of growth some fuel I will do more before the week end on Sunday. So whatever we think about grows apparently, well I can confirm this to be the case. My study may not be far reaching and stand the test of some peoples scepticism but in my mind it works. This week has been a kind week and I look forward to next week when we as a group will be applying the law of growth to topics of our own choice. My choice is ‘Decisiveness’  for next week so if we run into each other do me a favour and be decisive so I can notice it and watch it grow through the week.

Week 15 – Paying Off

Does this stuff work? Will it work for me?

I guess these were the questions that I asked myself repeatedly in the early days. I had read many books before but this course promised to be different, we were to be self directed and guided into finding the answers for ourselves. Then as if to make it more challenging we would be reading two books which both takes months to complete as they are exercises to be completed daily and repeated until the books are finished.

Well after 15 weeks I can confirm that this is working. I feel different, I react to situations differently and most importantly I am living with a purpose and enjoying the journey. It is no miracle it is simply the result of gaining and understanding of what I used to think about and understanding that I can change the bits that don’t serve me. This is an ongoing process as I don’t believe we will ever stop growing until the day life ends.

Life is a whole lot better for me and my greatest displeasure now is seeing others that are in need of help. Many of them don’t know that they are slowly self destructing with negative opinions and actions. I know that I will be able to help some but will I be able to do enough? I will continue my journey and know that I will have opportunities to share what I have learnt. As they say on aeroplanes ‘fix your own oxygen mask first, then help others’.

A short comparison that has helped me recently is to think of the mind as being like a field of fertile soil. If you plant crops in the field then they will invariably grow, if you plant deadly nightshade in the soil it will invariably grow. They soil is fertile and doesn’t mind what you plant, it will simply return to you what you plant. By planting positive thoughts that are in line with your dharma in the mind they will grow. The mind does not mind what you plant it will simply return what you plant. Our actions are a manifestation of our thoughts so if we are propagating a positive mind then how can it not take us towards our dharma?

Week 14 – New Year Resolution

Do I Need A New Year Resolution?

What a difference a year makes, this has been said by me many times before but this year I feel it so much more.

DMP

Thanks to this course I don’t need to make a new years resolution as I have a Definite Major Purpose which is guiding me in a direction of my choosing every minute of every day. As it is my DMP and worded to encompass my needs spiritually, physically and mentally it is very personal to me. I feel it to my core and I’m loving the journey. I believe any smart goal we set and charge with emotion we can accomplish.

POA

I’m not a fool so I have a Plan Of Action to take me to the goal and I can change the plan if needed to keep me on track. Having a plan to achieve your DMP is essential as we will only get back what we give so we must be putting the work in to stand any hope. I don’t need to know every step at this time as ideas and opportunities are still to come to me along the way but doing something is essential.

PMA

I have a Positive Mental Attitude as that is a well written about requirement to achieve and sustain any success in life. A PMA also enables you to be a giving person and enjoy the ride, sounds like my type of plan as enjoying what we have is a good way to live. The Seven Day Mental Diet by Emmet Fox is my guide for this (Get your copy from my link on this site). This also ensures that I’m receptive to the new ideas when they show up, it would be a shame to miss out on a life changing moment because is was having a pity party about something unnecessary like a relatives attitude or heavy traffic.

MMA

I also have a Master Mind Alliance as this is essential to keep yourself honest. It’s easy to slack off when it’s just you and your plan but bring someone else into the equation and you feel a responsibility to carry on. If I don’t do the work then I’m not just letting my future self down but also someone else who is trying to better themselves too. My MMA is a good man with regular life problems and a tough job. Between us we will achieve so much as combined we are stronger than the sum of our parts for the reasons above. Peter I’m truly grateful for all that you do to push me on!

Success Equation

DMP + POA + PMA + MMA = Success. An equation that has stood the test of time as it has been written about and used by successful people since the early 1930’s either knowingly or not. Just read their autobiography’s if you need proof.

I hope this explains why I will not be setting a New Years Resolution this year like the majority. They often get forgotten about in early January anyway and setting a goal which you soon drop is a very bad habit to form. If you set a goal then stake your life on it, setting goals which you achieve is a good habit to form and one which can potentially change a life.

Week 13 – Choices

This is my blog from last year. I have re posted it as it was such a great turning point for me. To be able to use the Law of Substitution and control my thoughts was a big success for me. This was a very real problem for me and by controlling my subconscious and my thinking I was able to make a big change in my life. The course suddenly became very real for me!

Choices

Having a short holiday over Christmas has given me a chance to choose an emotion. I have always had a fear of flying until now. It’s never been a big problem as I have taken many flights over my adult life but each time I have believed that I am afraid of flying and got myself worked up about it. It has caused me to be irritable and a pain to be around thus getting a family holiday off to a poor start and give it a poor finish too.

This holiday was always going to be different as my wife and I have made many changes to ourselves and the way we think. I decided a few weeks ago that I was no longer afraid of flying but the test came on Christmas Day when we travelled to the airport. We had a great journey and was met by a very pleasant fellow who took our keys to park the car for us. I managed to strike up a conversation with him and thank him for working on Christmas Day. We then walked into the terminal and had a very pleasant time, I even managed to buy a couple of things and enjoy shopping with my wife and son.

The take off went fine and I even let my son sit by the window for landing at our destination. This got our holiday off to a fantastic start and I am so pleased that I did this. It has proved to me that we do choose our emotions and I have faith in myself to make many more changes. More importantly I can use this experience to help others choose their emotions too as no one should suffer needlessly fearing things for no good reason.

I choose to not fear flying along with more significant choices such as happiness, health, strength and many more. We all have this power it is not for the chosen few. The truth is that we get so hung up with running with the crowd that we forget to look where we are going. I simply choose to be a success and more importantly enjoy the journey. If we genuinely believe in ourselves then we have the power to design a life.

Week 12 – Affirmations

Affirmations

If you told me 3 months ago I would be using affirmations I would not have believed you. Now if you tell me that in 12 months time I will have stopped using affirmations I will not believe you.

Mark very cleverly started us off weeks ago with a simple ‘Do it now’ affirmation then progressed to ‘I can be what I will to be’. These we have been repeating daily and finding them creeping into our daily routines. Often when a negative situation is developing they are useful as the Law of Substitution keeps us sane and on track. It is impossible to indulge in self pity when you are repeating ‘I can be what I will to be’ in your head, who would ever will to be pitiful or sad?

A 50 Minute Affirmation Marathon

This week Mark hit us with a 50 minute affirmation marathon in front of a mirror. No warnings he just came out with it on a live webinar used the ‘Do it now’ affirmation a couple of times and said see you in 50 minutes. Back in September I would have said he was nuts but now understanding the 7 laws of the mind it seemed a good idea so I did it. I trust the teaching, the guides and the course as they have changed my life forever with this. Maybe you think I’m nuts while reading this, I can understand your thinking but trust me this stuff works.

The 50 minute affirmation was a short sentence encompassing our DMP’s (Definite Major Purpose). We prepared this short DMP last week and knew it would form part of the webinar. It’s great having a DMP but for it to work you need to feel it to your core and live in it as often as you can by attaching thoughts and feelings to it. Meditations, reading it and affirming it are all helping this to work. Repeating this sentence for 50 minutes was a challenge to start but so worth the effort. It started feeling odd then progressed to being more fun. This allowed me to change the tone and energy of it a few times and this felt quite emotional at times as my DMP is going to be a fantastic life for my family and I to live in.

Thank you Mark and the MKMMA team for guiding us without influencing us too much. The self discovery is fantastic and giving this whole course meaning. It’s no surprise that many successful people from decades ago rate this book so highly, it truly has the power to change a life for the better.

Week 11 – Law of Attraction

The Law Of Attraction

This law has been discussed for decades and has always faced scepticism along with acceptance. I myself was a sceptic and believed I knew the facts with my schooling and interests being in science. I was always of the belief that thoughts can have very little influence over anything outside our heads. You don’t have to look too far to find someone who is willing to film themselves mocking this law by proving that thought cannot manifest an object. I now look back at that scepticism and realise that it was the easy answer and meant that I could put it to one side and move on.

How did this work out for me? Well lets just say that I’m glad I have an open mind otherwise I would still be using my thoughts to justify my beliefs and living the safe controlled life following the crowd towards mediocrity.

Being part of the MKMMA course has allowed me to understand the ‘Law Of Attraction’ without having to give up on my scientific mind wanting to explore every detail.

Its not magic or a kind of voodoo whereby we can think of a thing and it will appear. I wish it was as I like a quick fix as much as anyone else. Its much like a network marketing business where you first have to suspend your current belief to open up the possibility that you don’t yet have all the answers. Once you do this you can view the components for what they are rather than comparing them to your current belief.

I have looked at the theories and read the books, I have even seen a film on the idea. A lot of information has allowed me to gain an understanding that I can live with for now in the hope that I can gain more with time. I truly believe that what we think about can manifest itself in our lives and I have the experiences to back it up. A lot of the evidence can be disregarded by anyone wishing to be a sceptic with phrases such as ‘confirmation bias’ or ‘self selecting of positive reports’. This is fine as we are all free to think as we wish and I’m sure anyone in these camps is living a life finding scepticism, superiority and maybe even hatred wherever they go and in their own way proving the law of attraction working perfectly.

I’m finding that with a more directed positive attitude I can find good things in my life with ease and while its true they may have been there anyway by experiencing them I’m living a richer more fulfilled life than otherwise. By expecting better outcomes they will always appear as the law works perfectly either way so why choose the negative?

Any event in life is perceived by us in a certain way and if somebody else experiences the same event they may well have a different perception of that same event. Take two people watching the same football match almost every hard tackle will have one set of fans applauding and the other saying foul play.

A positive person (attracting success) losing a business opportunity will see room for growth, new opportunities or a change of direction while a predominantly negative person (attracting failure) will be saying this always happens to me or finding excuses or blame. Which person will do the best in time, which would you rather be, which will find a way to be successful? It’s not voodoo it’s obvious and it’s a choice we all have. We have a thought process ingrained in us already which we are living our lives by so it’s happening anyway we can just choose to do it differently, if we want to.

My thoughts on the law are only the tip of the iceberg. There is so much more to it and I’m enjoying the process of finding and understanding much more about why I do what I do as this is helping shape a different future.

 

Week 10 – No More Excuses

No More Excuses

In the Master Key Part Ten I can see the old me being described perfectly and its a painful reminder of what used to be true for me.

It describes the ordinary man as thinking chiefly to justify his actions. This seems a little odd at first but then it is described further on in the text and it hits me ‘that was me’.

Anything that I was failing at or finding difficult I would be thinking and justifying why to myself no-excusesand anyone else who would listen. The timing is wrong, they are not ready, they don’t understand me, etc. We all know these thoughts and they act to console us as they are explanations and excuses as to why we are perfect and everyone else is wrong.

We are instead taught to think our problems through to the end. We understand that every effect is the result of a definite cause and instead of explaining it away we can instead follow the trail of truths down to the bedrock of facts.

This is a more difficult task and requires us to be accountable instead of consoled.

Not everyone will be ready for such thinking but for those that are there is whole world of abundance out there and it is for us all to enjoy. By freeing our minds we can free our spirits to chase our dreams and know all along the way that we can overcome the obstacles with right thinking and will not get bogged down with excuses and self pity. This means we can dream big without fear and enjoy the process.

Week 9 – The Law Of Substitution

We have been using substitution with great effect for some time now. It is not possible to hold both good and bad thoughts in mind at the same time. This gives us the option to see a bad thought or opinion coming and substitute it with a positive.

From Part Nine of The Master Key it is said;

  • Character is not a thing of chance, but it is the result of continued effort. If you are timid, vacillating, self-conscious, or if you are over-anxious or harassed by thoughts of fear or impending danger, remember that is axiomatic that ‘two things cannot exist in the same place at the same time.’
Taking control of our thoughts will allow us to control our character and this is where we can grow in whatever way we require. Knowing that we are in control is a good start but seeing the new thoughts making a new you is even better. Further on in Part Nine it is said;
  • The positive thought will destroy the negative as certainly as light destroys darkness, and the results will be just as effectual.
We have been working on a 7 day mental diet as part of our course within the MKMMA. This is something that anyone can do and it really helps you keep your thoughts in check and become an observer. I have a link to the 7 Day Diet in the sidebar or at the bottom of the post. I would recommend it to anyone wishing to feel the benefits of challenging our positivity.
One quick note on embarking on a course of substituting thoughts, the payoff is great so it seems reasonable that the effort required will also be great. This is predominantly in the early stages and as time goes on it does become easier and more natural. A good start is to limit the rubbish being thrown at you by those who are addicted to bad news. This will mean shutting down a lot of Facebook and definitely not watching the news on TV or reading the papers. Become the observer and recognise why these sources feed on the negative addictions then you can put them to one side. Definitely don’t get involved in sharing posts which propagate hate, fear and political propaganda otherwise you are part of the problem not the solution.

Week 8 – Watchman At The Gate

Filtering Information

Week 8 and we are starting to use our subconscious minds so much more. The mental diet is anpress-release amazing tool to get us thinking about how we are configuring our subconscious mind. We are being bombarded by radio, TV, friends, family, colleagues, etc. they all have their own agenda and it is rarely aligned with our hearts desire. Being the ‘watchman at the gate’ of our subconscious is allowing us to filter what goes in. So many around us are finding ways to be unhappy, I even saw today a colleague complaining about a flight to a great destination! How many positive great things must they be experiencing and they are finding and sharing negatives?

How Do We Filter?

The law of substitution is a great tool. We can only think of one thing at a time so substitute with a positive. We also have technology available to us too. We can switch people off our newsfeed on Facebook, not watch TV and find things that inspire us to do with our time. It is important that we know what our hearts desire is and then go about following it. As long as it is good for us and takes away from no one else then we are all happy.

Why Should We Filter

Our subconscious is a fertile place and if we can keep it positive then great positives will be manifested in our lives. Have you ever noticed how some people seem to get on in life while others don’t? Some people who are giving and generous seem to receive plenty in return. Some who are fault finding and opinionated seem to have lots of problems following them. By reading and understanding Emerson’s Law Of Compensation you will understand why this is the case. It can be simplified by the phrase ‘Give More, Get More’ and that has been on my office wall for years since I found it.

7 Day Mental Diet

Mental Diet – Week 7 of the MK Experiencemindset

Last year this diet made the difference for me. The course took on a whole new meaning once I had this part of the experience under my control. I am looking forward to finding even more out about myself  by doing it again.

The diet is quite simple and full instructions can be emailed to you by entering your email address into the link beside this post. I am simply going to entertain nothing but positive thoughts for 7 days. If I think of a negative for more than a few seconds then the clock starts again and I embark on a new 7 days.

The Law Of Substitution

This law is going to be by saviour again this year. It is true that if a negative thought starts to form then, if I act quick enough, I can think of a positive instead. Maybe my DMP, a nice experience or anything really that takes my thoughts away from the negative. If I act quick enough then this will solve many potential restarts. I am also finding that smiling overcomes a negative emotion, try it yourself put on a big smile and try to feel sad at the same time.

Why Do This

The growth from this is compounded as we are exercising so many skills.

  • We are becoming better observers or ourselves, this has so many benefits in all areas of life. Everyone on this planet would benefit from observing themselves and their actions then taking full responsibility, not finding ways to blame but taking full responsibility.
  • We are avoiding situations that lead us to restarting the diet. We all have that person or place that is like a black hole for positivity, do I need to spend time there? If I do then I will go in with a smile, substitutions ready and get out as quick as I can.
  • We are creating for ourselves a positive fertile mind. This will enable us to grow and become self directed thinkers in a positive direction. Realising our goals and enjoying the journey. Repeating positive quotes and reading positive books are good but creating a positive mind will have more impact on us. We live in our head 24 hours a day so a few minutes of positivity followed by hours of average will not produce anything other than average results.

This Morning

Well I started last night with no problems. This morning I had to restart after the alarm clock went off. I also had to restart getting my son off to school as we were running late. Loading up the PC has made a restart too as it was doing what PC’s do and testing me. I thought after doing this last year it would be easy. It is going to be a test again but I’m ready and the rest of today will be fine. I have substitutions ready and I find it easy to smile again after years of forgetting how to.

I am the observer of my life, I control my actions and the realisation of my DMP is more important than being a comfortable average. I do the work, achieve my dreams and positively change many peoples lives in the process.
